On Wednesday, Jan. 24, two students were overheard making comments regarding violence at the high school. Although the comments were not direct threats of violence against the school, the two students were detained at the high school and then suspended. Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy and School Resource Officer Josh Jamiel met with all parties at their homes last night to continue the investigation. The students were subsequently taken into custody.
Local law enforcement chose to provide a police presence at the high school today to relieve any lingering fears parents and students may have had following social media posts about the situation.
Henry County Public Schools will always take measures to ensure the safety of our students. This incident is no exception. A letter from the superintendent will be sent home with students today, Jan. 25, regarding this situation.
