Preschool and Early Entrance to Kindergarten
The Preschool Screening is a free service offered to parents who wish to enroll their 3 or 4-year-old child in Head Start or Preschool in the fall. The screening helps determine each child’s eligibility for the program. Areas that will be screened include vision, hearing, motor skills, concepts and language development. Children that are 3 or 4 years old by August 1st and reside in the Henry County School District are eligible for a screening. Screenings are held in April and/or May. The first year for primary school for HCPS begins with students who turn 5 years old on or before August 1 for the 2022-2023 school year. In accordance with KRS 158.031 (6), HCPS has established criteria for early entrance to Primary (P1), also known as Kindergarten, for students who have mastered kindergarten benchmarks before age 5.
Criteria for Early Entrance (P1):

Child must be a resident of Henry County, Kentucky; and

Child must turn 5 years old between August 2nd and October 1st of the admission year; and
-
Child must score at or above the 85th percentile on the DIAL-R Assessment.
Parents/guardians who wish to have their child screened for Early Entrance to Kindergarten must schedule an appointment using the link below. Early Entrance screenings are held at the same time as preschool screenings. There is a place on the linked form to indicate that your student should be screened for Early Entrance.

Kindergarten
Children who will be 5 years old on or before 8/1/2022 are eligible for Kindergarten enrollment with Henry County Public Schools. Applications for Kindergarten students will open on April 12, 2022. To enroll your Kindergarten student you will need to gather the following documents before beginning your online registration application. Failure to upload/turn in the required documents will result in your application not being processed for enrollment.
REQUIRED: Proof of residency (a deed or property tax bill, utility agreement or utility bill, or rental housing agreement), official birth certificate (no hospital copies accepted), up-to-date Kentucky Immunization Certificate*, school entry physical*, eye exam* (completed by an eye doctor, not family physician), and dental exam*. OPTIONAL: social security card
*all forms listed above are available at your student’s physician’s office
Henry County Public Schools has an open enrollment agreement with neighboring school districts. If you live outside the HCPS district boundary and wish to enroll your child in HCPS you will be asked to complete the non-resident application as part of your online registration.
If you have other students enrolled in HCPS you will need to complete the annual update for your current students and then enroll the new kindergarten student. 1st - 12th Grade Students
Henry County Public Schools welcomes your child and you to our district! To enroll your new student you will need to gather the following documents before beginning your online registration application. Failure to upload/turn in the required documents will result in your application not being processed for enrollment.
REQUIRED: Proof of residency (a deed or property tax bill, utility agreement or utility bill, or rental housing agreement), official birth certificate (no hospital copies accepted), up-to-date Kentucky Immunization Certificate.* OPTIONAL: Report card or transcript from the student’s last school. If a copy is not provided and we must wait on the former school district to provide copies the enrollment can be delayed. Social security card (optional but must be provided after 8th grade to ensure earning of KEES money).
*the Kentucky Immunization Certificate is available at the local health department and KY doctor’s offices
