OVUC raises money to fund non-profit entities that provide services to the residents in Carroll, Gallatin, Henry, Owen and Trimble counties. It awards grants and provides donations to deserving causes relying on 12-member board of directors to annually review and approve applications. In 2017, over $165,000 was awarded to 34 organizations spanning the five-county area.
This year, increased support allowed the organization to award an additional $12,000 to each county it serves. In Henry County, $6,000 will be given to the Family Resource Center, which provides services to Henry County Public Schools’ elementary students and their families and $6,000 will be given to the Youth Services Center to help Henry’s middle and high school population.
“Meeting those basic needs of our students enables them to focus more fully on being successful in the classroom,” said HCPS Superintendent Terry Price. “On behalf of our students and families, we’re very grateful for this donation and for the support from our community.”
